CAKE Members Since formation in 1991, CAKE has featured many different members. The current lineup is as follows.
John McCrea: In it since the beginning, the frontman sings, plays moog and guitar, and provides the band with the majority of its material.
Xan McCurdy: The most recently added member of CAKE, Xan replaced Greg Brown after the latter left the band to form Deathray. Xan competed with several other guitarists for his spot in the band, and won out after the recording of Prolonging the Magic was completed.
Gabe Nelson: Bassist who had been involved with the band since the early days but joined as a full member after the departure of Victor Damiani to Deathray.
Vince di Fiore: One of the band's founding members, Vince plays trumpet and some keyboards.

Greg Brown: Played guitar for the band until 1998, when he left to pursue other interests with another Sacramento band called Deathray. Greg wrote the CAKE's breakthrough hit, "The Distance" and got a big head and decided to step out from John McCrea's shadow. He's still finding out how big that shadow actually is.
Victor Damiani: A fine bassist who left the band with Greg Brown to join Deathray.
Todd Roper: Todd left the band in April of 2001 after the completion of the band's fourth studio album.
